The price, camera, display, performance, RAM, storage, battery, operating system, network connectivity, multimedia warranty, critic and user ratings, and other differences between the Samsung Galaxy A13 and Samsung Galaxy A51 are all included in this comparison.
Galaxy A51 Overview
The Galaxy A51 definitely falls short when measured against premium smartphones like the Galaxy S20, as well as the A51’s main competitor. Because Apple gave the iPhone SE the same A13 Bionic chipset as its most expensive iPhone 11, the SE is quick. In terms of wireless charging and water resistance, two features that Samsung’s less expensive phone lacks, the iPhone SE surpasses the A51. (Please refer to the table at the end of this review for a detailed comparison of the specifications of the Galaxy A51 and iPhone SE.)
However, the Galaxy A51 has its own charms. It gives you 128GB out of the gate compared to the iPhone SE’s 64GB for its base model, doubling the on-board storage for the SE’s starting price. It also supports external storage. The Samsung screen is significantly bigger and has slim bezels that give the phone a contemporary feel and minimize empty space. Between the two phones, battery life is comparable. In a looping video test in airplane mode, both come to about 16 hours, and additional lab tests will be conducted soon. In this test, the Galaxy A51 outlasted the SE by about 20 minutes.
Pros & Cons Of Galaxy A51
Pros
- Excellent display
- Solid cameras
- Good battery life
Cons
- Underwhelming performance
- Not waterproof
- Fingerprint sensor doesn’t work well
Galaxy A51 Design, Display, And Durability
Simply put, the Galaxy A51 has a nice appearance. The HWD dimensions are 6.24 by 2.90 by 0.31 inches, and the weight is 6.06 ounces. It can easily be held in one hand and used because it is lightweight and narrow enough to do so. It is offered in the US in a classy prismatic finish and in the color black. There are also blue and white options available in other parts of the world.
The 6.5-inch AMOLED display, which has a 20:9 aspect ratio and a small hole for the front-facing camera, takes up most of the phone’s front. The resolution is 2,400 by 1,080, with a higher pixel density (405ppi) than the iPhone SE (326ppi). By default, colors are bright and warm, but you can adjust them in the settings menu to your preferences. The display itself is clear and bright, so you won’t have any trouble seeing it in the sun.
There is also an optical fingerprint sensor built into the display, but it is not very effective. Only about 40% of the time did it operate correctly in daily use. If security is not a major concern for you, I recommend using the facial recognition feature to unlock instead.
The Samsung Galaxy A51’s MSRP is currently $349.99, but it is available for much less. If you look around, the phone can easily be found for less than $300. It’s difficult to ignore the value Samsung is supplying with the phone at that cost.
The A51 offers a really great screen, respectable build quality, some passable cameras, and even a headphone jack. Additionally, it is providing three years of software updates that are guaranteed to continue support until at least Android 12. Even so, this phone’s weak point is its performance, despite its excellent build quality and screen. Additionally, there is fierce competition for the $349 suggested retail price.
Galaxy A13 Overview
The Galaxy A13 expands Samsung’s low-cost line to support 5G and offers more power than ever, but both features are expensive. Although there are cheaper Galaxy A series phones available for those purchasing them unlocked, the Galaxy A13 is still a good option from US carriers if you can find a good deal.
Because it’s crucial to stay in touch with the things and people you care about most, the amazingly useful Galaxy A13 comes fully equipped with everything you need. Long-lasting battery powers you through the day, the multi-lens camera makes it simple to capture and share your moments, and the infinity display allows you to watch back all of your favorite memories in HD+. At a price you’ll adore, it has everything you require.
Pros & Cons Of Galaxy A13
Pros:
- Solid performance
- 50MP main camera works well in good light
- Affordable 5G
- Two-day battery life
- Long-term software support
Cons:
- Ditched the ultrawide camera, kept the macro
- Dim FHD+ display
- Slow to charge
- $70 more expensive, less value
Galaxy A13 Design, Display, And Durability
The Galaxy A13 we tested shipped with Samsung’s One UI skin on top of Android 11 out of the box. It was included in the June 2021 Google Play system update and the November 2021 security patch. As a result of Samsung’s aggressive update policy, it has since received Android 12 and will do so going forward. Samsung claims that the Galaxy A13 5G will receive two years of software updates as well as four years of security patches.
Beyond the software, Samsung used Mediatek’s Dimensity 700 5G chipset to power the device. Although it’s not the strongest Dimensity option, it makes sense financially at $249. But compared to last year, that price point represents a significant increase of $70. Samsung’s single RAM and storage configuration may not seem like much, but you can add a microSD card to hold more photos and apps. The 6.5-inch HD+ display and identical 5,000mAh battery from the previous model are also present.
It’s much simpler to grab the Galaxy A13 5G and go now that there is only one. For a budget phone like this, the combination of 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage feels like the right amount to keep up with daily life. This pairing is more powerful than the Galaxy A12’s base model. Since there is a MicroSD slot, you can always add more storage if you need it.
Of course, the addition of 5G support is the biggest change Samsung made to the Galaxy A13. Even if there was a price increase associated with it, it’s nice to see some degree of future-proofing on a cost-effective device. As I hardly noticed any lag or stuttering this time around, Mediatek’s Dimensity 700 chipset feels like a far better match for the Galaxy A13 than last year’s Helio P35.
I find it difficult to say that the 6.5-inch HD+ panel from Samsung now has a 90Hz refresh rate, despite the fact that Samsung added this feature. The smoother animations feel like an extra boost when there are more pressing issues to take care of because the panel itself isn’t very sharp or the brightest. Regrettably, the top and bottom bezels are also disproportionately big for a $200+ device in 2022.
